Seo Kang Joon

Oh my god, I've developed a new (very giant) celebrity crush, in the name of Seo Kang Joon. Ah, where should I start? I've been watching "Cunning Single Lady" for the last few weeks, which has Seo Kang Joon as the second male lead, the charming noona-killer Gook Seung Hyun. I wasn't very attracted to him while watching him in it, at least not consciously. (I wasn't going, "ah, he's so fine/handsome/good-looking/cute..." all the time.) But I must have been somewhat attracted to him, because I randomly had a dream about him a few nights ago. I was SO surprised, because it was really out of nowhere. I was almost completely sure I didn't have any feelings for him before, rather, I was kind of turned off by the way he really looks like he had plastic surgery, just the way he looked kind of weird and slightly off in the drama. But being the superstitious person that I am, I felt like this meant something, and it made me kind of curious about him. I was (kind of) surprised to find out he is a 93er, because he looks a little bit mature for his age, and he also plays about 6-7 years older than his age in real life. People have been raving about him and his performance, which gave me all the more reason to check him out. I spent the past weekend searching and searching about this Seo Kang Joon, and eventually falling for him... I still don't know why I'm crushing on him so hard, so much. T__T

His real/birth name is Lee Seung Hwan (이승환), and he was born on October 12, 1993, which makes him a Libra. He's from the city of Gunpo in Gyeonggi-do, and went to Sanbon High School. In June 2012, he auditioned for the second "Actor's League" held by his current company, Fantagio. He's currently active with a group of idol actors called 5urprise, or "Surprise." Last year, the group starred in their own dramatoon named "방과 후 복불복," aka "After School Bokbulbok" with actress Kim So Eun. It was actually pretty good, very similar to "Ouran High School Host Club," but with a little more sense and better written story and characters. At first, I thought Yoo Il was the main male character, since he was dubbed as the "real flower boy," but it was gradually revealed that Kang Joon was the more important character, as he developed a mutual love with So Eun. THEY EVEN KISSED. O__O

*Fangirl heart shattered.*
Anyway... (CRAZY JEALOUS OF KIM SO EUN.) I finished watching all of it yesterday, since it's only 12 episodes, and each episode is just around 12 minutes long. Last night, I discovered that Kang Joon appeared on "Radio Star" earlier this year, for the "flower boy gift set" new year's special. He didn't do anything really big there, but I think I got to see at least a glimpse of his personality in real life. Apparently, all the girls had the hots for him at school, always coming to see him to get their daily dose of "vitamin." LOL. He tried to play the piano version of Exo's "Growl," but it ended up not sounding quite right. Fantagio uploaded a video of it on their YouTube channel after that, which sounds a lot better and really shows off Kang Joon's piano skills this time:

He plays the piano in "Cunning Single Lady," too, which tells me that he might've taken piano lessons when he was younger. Here, he plays the classic lady-killer, Yiruma's "River Flows In You". UGH, it seems like he's out to get us fangirls... (Notice the second mention of "killer.")

His company seems to be pushing him as their promising new rookie actor, with "After School Bokbulbok" centered on him, and he seems to have gotten the best roles so far (compared to the other 5urprise members) with a small screen debut in last year's drama, "Suspicious Housekeeper." He also had a main role in the ninth installment of MBC's Drama Festival last year, called "하늘재 살인사건." Here, he plays a young man who falls in love with a woman who could be his mother in terms of age, and ends up marrying her daughter, just to be with her. Complete makjang, right? I watched a few clips of it on YouTube, and although I'm very intrigued, the story is so crazy! But it is only an hour-long episode, and Seo Kang Joon was very good in it, believable in his role at the very least. We'll see about that...

See, he's in the center. ; )
Our Kang Joon, or rather Seung Hwan (OMG, similar to Seung Hyun!), has had his own share of scandals, despite the fact that he just debuted last year. The most famous one happened when he was still a trainee, where Seung Hwan posted on his personal Facebook account the following message:

The content was basically along the lines of how he passed his 100th day anniversary with his girlfriend, who he reveals is an idol. Therefore, they don't get to date like normal couples, always hiding in secret and oftentimes not having time to see each other. He says that he's proud of their beautiful love, and it seems like the message is meant towards some of the haters he had even while preparing for his debut. As you might have caught on, this mainly became an issue because Seung Hwan mentioned that his girlfriend is an idol. Everyone was curious as to who that was, and this was even discussed on "Radio Star." However, his agency quickly followed up with a clarification that she was not an idol, but a trainee from a different company, who has not debuted yet. Kang Joon supported this claim on the show, but my good senses tells me that it was in fact a girl group member, and most likely from the same company, as in "Hello~" (*wink wink*). I can't be sure about this, but the most suspicious fact is how his company made it a point to say that she is from a different company...

On that note, here is a whole boatload of pictures of our beautiful Seo Kang Joon. :D

These abs that he showed on "Radio Star."
Now he shows them loud and proud in a preview of "Cunning Single Lady." *__*
His high school graduation photo.
Probably when he was in elementary school?
OMG, he was so cute as a kid!!! XD
